Westside High School/Air Force JROTC Cadet Laityn Tippy signed her Letter of Intent to attend the Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado Springs, CO starting this Fall. After successful completion of the Prep School, she will become a member of the Air Force Academy Graduating Class of 2026 and commission as an Air Force or Space Force Officer.
She plans to pursue a career as a pilot.
The Air Force Academy received over 10,000 applications this year, and had a selection rate of less than 11%.
An Air Force Academy Scholarship is all inclusive and valued at $426,000.
WHS will now have former AFJROTC cadets in the Air Force Graduating Classes of 2024 (Luke Walz), 2025 (Dexter Cathey) and 2026 (Laityn Tippy).
