The soccer game for today vs Wynne has been cancelled and will be played tomorrow, Friday, April 22, 2022 at Westside with a 5:00 p.m. start time.

Donation Goal: 35 units and if we collect enough units, a WHS senior will receive a scholarship! Plus, those who come to give blood will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of choice and automatically be entered to win a new travel trailer camper that sleeps eight, powered by Suburban Propane.

In addition to beds, there will also be luxury pillows and even adjustable power bases! Delivery & financing is available.

The WHS Athletic Booster Club will have a meeting on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 6pm in the high school cafeteria.
WHS/AFJROTC packed another 23,000+ meals today at the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.
Dating back 5 years to the time we started this Community Service project, today cadets hit two huge milestones:
Over 2000 Hours donated!
Over 500,000 meals packed!
These cadets have gone above and beyond in demonstrating the Air Force Core Value of “Service Before Self”.

Westside High School has selected Seniors Samara Brogan and Spencer Honeycutt for this year's representatives to the Governor's Scholastic Honors Day.
The Arkansas Department of Education is pleased to announce that the Governor's Scholastic Honors Day will be held May 7, 2022, at the Governor's Mansion in Little Rock.
Scholastic Honors Day recognizes Arkansas' best and brightest students. Students will meet the Governor as well as his wife and have pictures taken.
Selection Criteria:
Public and private high schools are encouraged to select two students in the senior class who best represent excellent academic achievement.
Due to scheduling limitations, each high school can only select two (2) students to attend the event. No exceptions.
A slideshow will be created honoring the selected students. The slides will include the student's photo, name, school and hometown.

Due to impending severe weather, Westside will be dismissing early today (Wednesday, 4/13/22). Car riders and car drivers will be dismissed at 1:00 with bus riders being released at 1:30. WHS/AFJROTC Cadet/Major Hunter Walpole has been selected as the Air Force Association and Air Force JROTC Cadet Leadership Award Winner for the state for 2021-22, recognizing him as the #1 AFJROTC Cadet in the State of Arkansas for this school year.
This award began four years ago and a WHS/AFJROTC cadet has been selected as the state winner each year, including Luke Walz, who was selected as the state winner in 2018-19 and Laityn Tippy, who was the National winner in 2019-20. The award was suspended last year due to COVID restrictions.
Cadet Walpole, who was recently selected as the next Cadet Group Commander, will compete at the Region Level in late April and if selected at the National Level in early May.

It looks as though severe weather could once again visit us at Westside as a storm warning has been issued for our area for later this afternoon. Please know that we will be watching the weather intently and should the need arise, we will release school early this afternoon in order to get our students home safely. Also, rest assured that all should the need arise, Westside will utilize the safe houses on all three campuses to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community. As the forecasts start to solidify throughout the morning, we will use this information to make decisions on release times around noon today. Please check your normal communication outlets (facebook, text message, website) for new information about release times, should that become necessary.

*Track Meet Updates* The Jr High Track Meet in Pocahontas scheduled for today has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, April 11, 2022. The Westside 7th grade Track Team WILL NOT be participating in the meet at Hoxie on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
Attention Westside Athletes:
Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) will only be accepting the attached as physical forms after July 31, 2022. The first two forms are medical history forms to be filled out by parent/guardian and the third page is to be filled out by the student's physician.
Any student in grades 7-12 who plan to play a sport is required to have a sports physical before you can participate in that sport(s) for the 2022-2023 school year. This includes current 6th graders planning to play school sports next season.
