Westside high school and middle school EAST students had a visit from Mr. Lee Wells with the #cityofjonesboro and #jets transportation to highlight the new trolly system they have for the Jonesboro community. Students learned about how the trolleys came about for the city, how they work, and where the community can locate them.

Ms. Alice Whitaker, one of our custodian at WHS, goes above and beyond to make our breezeway a warm and inviting space. She uses her own time and resources to decorate it each year, making it special for both students and staff. One of her most thoughtful additions is the “Wish Box,” where students can share their thoughts, hopes, and dreams. Each year, we read these wishes to staff, giving us a glimpse into what’s going on in our students’ lives. Some are funny, and others are more serious, but all are treated with care and compassion. If you see Ms. Alice, be sure to thank her for the positive impact she has on WHS. She truly makes a difference!

WHS FBLA students had an incredible day exploring Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis, TN, as part of their celebration of American Enterprise Day! American Enterprise Day is celebrated on November 15th each year to recognize the American free enterprise system, which is the foundation of the United States economy. The day was established by President Jimmy Carter in 1980 through a Presidential Proclamation. The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) organizes the day to educate young people about capitalism.
